PRO 7’s ANALYTICAL POLICING APPROACH BRINGS INDEX CRIMES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS BY 22.96%
The Police Regional Office 7 recorded a sharp decline in crime incident percentage by 22.96 in Central Visayas for the first 25 days of 2023 as compared to the same period last year, announced Thursday, January 26.
In a report, Index Crimes are 22.96% lower with 208 cases from January 1 to 25, 2023, compared to the same period last year with 270 cases.
Index crimes refer to serious crimes that occur with sufficient frequency and regularity to the extent that they can indicate the crime situation.
Moreover, the PNP considers murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping, and Special Complex Crimes as Index Crimes. Further, 98.35% of these cases were already cleared and solved.
On eight focus crimes which include the crimes of murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping MC, and Carnaping MV it decreased gradually by 22.39% with only 208 cases this year compared to 268 cases last year.
The decrease in 8 Focus Crimes was corroborated by the significant drop in the cases of Physical Injury and Rape.
PBGEN JERRY F BEARIS, PRO7 Director said the downtrend will continue to be seen in the coming days as PRO 7 pushes on with its relentless campaign against all forms of criminality in the region.
