SEC-Cebu inaugurates new office


The Securities and Exchange Commission – Cebu Extension Office (SEC-CEO) is delighted to announce the successful blessing and inauguration of its new office location, a momentous occasion that took place on June 30, 2023 in the said office on the 12th Floor of AppleOne building in Cebu Business Park. The event brought together representatives from various government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Anti-Red Tape Authority, the Philippines Statistics Authority among others, and partners from the SEC Campaign, Advocacy and Network (SEC CAN!) such as the Talisay Chamber of Commerce and the JCI WoMandaue to commemorate this significant milestone.


The ceremony commenced with a vibrant ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the official opening of the SEC's new office. Distinguished guests, including the executives of the AppleOne – Equicom Tower, gathered to witness this auspicious moment.


Following the ribbon-cutting, a solemn blessing was conducted by a respected priest, invoking prayers for success, harmony, and dedication in the pursuit of the SEC's mission to safeguard the integrity of the capital market and protect investors' interests.


“This occasion is not just about the physical relocation of our office; it symbolizes our commitment to enhancing our services, strengthening our partnerships, and furthering our mission of investor protection, market integrity, and capital market promotion,” Director Sheara L. Lupango-Tamayo stated in her opening remarks during the inauguration program.

Heartfelt messages of support and encouragement were delivered by the other agencies and the SEC CAN! partners, which highlighted past collaborations and their regard for the SEC-CEO.

The event concluded with a celebratory lunch, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and collaboration among guests. This informal gathering provided an opportunity for networking, sharing insights, and strengthening partnerships for the advancement of investor protection and the sustainable growth of the capital market.

The SEC extends its gratitude to all the esteemed government agencies and partners who graced the occasion with their presence and unwavering support. This momentous inauguration marks a new chapter in the SEC's journey, reinforcing its commitment to promoting a robust and trustworthy financial ecosystem.

IBP CEBU CITY USHERS IN NEW SET OF OFFICERS; GIMBO IS PRESIDENT

The Cebu City Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) elects the new set of officers during the election held today. Atty. Rosendo Hernaez III is elected President succeeding Atty. Michelle Mendez-Palmares who will end her term on March 31, 2023.  The other officers elected into office are Lawyers Bernardino Amago IV as Vice President, Lalaine Salve-Esmeralda as Secretary, Mark Anthony Gaviola as Treasurer, Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgo, Julius Oliver Moeller. The elected Directors are Lawyers Mark Gregory Avila, Mary Grace Casano, Georgia Herrera-Klepp, Rhea Mae Senining-Judilla, and Nestor Crispin Miguel Lumapas.  The elections were held simultaneously among all Chapters of the IBP in the country. SM CITY CONSOLACION HOSTS THE FIRST TANGKONG FESTIVAL

Barangay Lamac Sk Council in Consolacion held its first Tangkong Festival last August 12 at the open grounds of SM City Consolacion. LAMAC, the Barangay name is derived from the word “Lamakan”which translates to “Swamp” which was mostly present around the community even before 1925. These swamps were abundantwith various species of plants and animals, especially Tangkong. Barangay Lamac was and is still known for producing Tangkong crops for markets across Metro Cebu. The abundance ofTangkong has helped a lot of families as well as the community to thrive successfully- providing families a commodity, helping students to finish education. Contingents joined the street dancing that started at the Lamac barangay court, passing Purok 3 to Purok 2, all the way to the stage area in SM City Consolacion.
