Zonta Club of Cebu II Women, Gender and Family Studies Section to expand awareness of women's, children's rights

Zonta Club of Cebu II hopes to raise awareness among women and children of their rights through the Women, Gender and Family Studies Section, said Tourism Undersecretary and Zonta Club of Cebu II chapter president Atty. Elaine Bathan during the launching of the section at the Cebu City Public Library.

The launching is part of the club's 18 Days of Activism to Stop Gender-based Violence project that starts on Friday, November 25, 2022.

The section contains reading materials on gender mainstreaming and various laws on the rights of women and children.

"Reading these materials is a way to empower those who are the most vulnerable, the women and the children, Atty. Bathan stressed. "And that is the goal of Zonta Club of Cebu as we come in unity with rest of the country in order to establish a VAW-free Philippines.

Atty. Ron Guinto who represented Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia, Councilor Joy Pesquera, Cebu City chief librarian Mrs. Rosario Chua, Zn. Elsa Basubas, Abay sa Kahayag Committee Chairperson and Dept. of Tourism Undersecretary and Zonta Club of Cebu II President Atty. Elaine Bathan graced the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
